Dr Ahmad Tibi
He is a Palestinian politician born in Palestinian family that was displaced from Jaffa and Ramlein 1948 and settled in the city of Thebes.He finished studying medicine with excellent grade and worked as a doctor till the year 1993 when he turned to politics and became an advisor to the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat. In 1999, he established “The Arab Movement for Change” and succeeded in the elections, entering the Knesset as a representative for the movement. Until now, he is still a member of the parliament.
Dr. Al Tibi is known for his struggle for the Arab Palestinian rights inside Israel, equality, and justice, andhis fighting against the occupation, racism, and Judaizing of Jerusalem,Al-Aqsa MosqueAl Galilee,Al Naqb and Al Muthalath.He represented the Palestinians several times in the international organizations and the United Nations. In 1999, his hand has been broken in Al-Aqsa Mosque when it has been raided by Ariel Sharon, that is why the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat called him “Intifada first injured”.
“Israel is a democratic statetowards the Jews, but it is a Jewish onetowards the Arab” is one of his well-known sayings. In response to the racial exclusion laws, he said in Knesset “the color of our skin and faces is brown like this landsoil”. Dr. Al Tibiis a parliamentarian, political and fieldwork activist and one of the most prominent figures within the Green Line in Israel. He also writes periodical articles in the Arab and international press. Due to his patriotic political views, the Israeli Central Elections Committee tried to prevent him from participating in the elections three times. After going to the court, he ran for the elections and won the three sessions. Local polls showed that he is the most popular Arab politician and has the most powerful support among his rivals.
